Article I - NAME
The club will be known as the "Cascades Veteran's Club (Herein called "The Club").
Article II - MEMBERSHIP
Section 1.
The Club shall consist of male and female veterans, and spouses of male and female veterans, and males and females of deceased veterans who are homeowners of record in the community.
Section 2.
It shall be the duty of every member to comply with these by-laws and published regulations of the Cascades at St. Lucie West Residents Association, Inc. and to promote the welfare of The Club.
Article III - CLUB OBJECTIVES
Section 1.
The Club intends to promote and sponsor various activities for the enjoyment of its' members and the residents of The Cascades. On occasions, The Club may enter into joint arrangements with other clubs and organizations on projects of mutual benefit.
Section 2.
The Club shall participate in and support local activities including charitable events.
Section 3.
The Club will be a non-profit organization.
Section 4.
The Club will conduct its' business meetings under the general guidelines of Robert's Rules of Order.
ARTICLE IV - STRUCTURE
Section 1.
The Club will have the following Officers:
President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section 2.
The officers shall serve a term of one (1) year.
Section 3.
The fiscal year of The Club shall begin on January 1st and end on December 31st of the same year.
Section 4.
Each member in good standing shall be entitled to one (1) vote.
Section 5.
At least forty (40) percent of the membership shall constitute a quorum legally entitled to conduct the business affairs of The Club.
Section 6.
All votes requiring a majority of the quorum shall be fifty (50) percent plus one (1) of the members in good standing who are in attendance.
ARTICLE V - OFFICERS AND DUTIES
Section 1.
The President shall preside at all meetings of The Club. He/she shall be a member of all committees.
Section2.
The 1st Vice-President shall act as an aide to the President and shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence.
Section 3.
The 2nd Vice-President shall act as an aide to the President and assume responsibility of the 1st Vice-President in his/her absence and/or the President in his/her absence if the !st Vice-President is also absent. He/she shall be responsible for meeting protocol using Robert's Rule of Order as a general guideline.
Section 4.
The Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings of The Club and of the Executive Committee meetings and report such to the general membership. He/she shall also be responsible for correspondence of The Club. He/she will also be responsible for publicity including articles in community newspapers and postings in the Clubhouse.
Section 5.
The Treasurer shall receive and disburse all monies of The Club and keep regular records of accounts. He/she shall present a statement of account at every general membership meeting. All monies shall be disbursed by check requiring the signature of the Treasurer and the President or in his/her absence the 1st Vice-President.
Section 6.
The officers and committee chairmen shall constitute the voting members of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI - GENERAL AND EXECUTIVE MEETINGS
Section 1.
The general membership meetings shall be held on the (day of the month to be mutually agreed upon after consultation with the management company).
Section 2.
Executive Committee meetings shall be held once a month or as requested by the President.
Section 3.
In the event of three (3) consecutive unexcused absences by any officer or committee chairmen, his/her position shall be declared vacant on the Executive Committee. A replacement shall be selected by the Executive Committee and voted upon at the next general meeting to fulfill the balance of the term. The general membership is excluded from any meeting requirements.
ARTICLE VII - DUES AND FINANCES
Section 1.
Each member shall pay annual dues to be used for club activities and general expenses, $5.00.
Section 2.
Additional funding required to meet The Club's goals and objectives will be determined by the Executive Committee. These funds will be obtained by fundraising events or other means as approved by the Executive Committee and a majority vote of a quorum at a general meeting.
Section 3.
The Treasurer's records shall be audited annually or upon election of a new Treasurer. The Executive Committee shall appoint an experienced accounting member to conduct the audit and report to the Executive Committee within thirty (30) days of his/her being assigned.
Section 4.
Any member who does not pay his/her dues by January 31st of each year will have his membership cancelled.
ARTICLE VIII - BY-LAW AMENDMENTS
Section 1.
Proposed amendments may be offered from the floor or by the Executive Committee and read at a general membership meeting. Within seven (7) days, the Secretary shall cause to be posted on The Cascades Bocce Club's bulletin board the proposed amendment.
Section 2.
At the next general meeting the proposed by-law shall be accepted only by a two-thirds (2/3s) vote of the majority of members constituting a quorum who are present and voting.
ARTICLE IX - ELECTIONS
Section 1.
Members wishing to stand for election will submit their names prior to November 1st or seven (7) days prior to the November meeting to the Secretary who will post their names on The Cascades Bocce Club's bulletin board. Candidates may also be nominated from the floor at the November meeting.
Section 2.
Prior to the vote each declared candidate will be allowed an equal period of time to speak as established by the Executive Committee.
Section 3.
Elections will be conducted by secret paper ballot. The Executive Committee shall serve or appoint a committee to count the ballots following the election of each officer.
Section 4.
The order of the election of officers shall be: First, the President; Second, the 1st Vice-President; Third, the 2nd Vice-President; Fourth, the Secretary; and last, the Treasurer.

ADDENDUM 1
The following are changes to the above By-Laws:
Change ARTICLE 1 - NAME to read:

Change ARTICLE II - MEMBERSHIP to read:
Section 1.
The Club shall consist of male and female veterans, first responders, DOD, State Dept, Foreign Service/Intelligence or any other related dept, and spouses of male and female veterans, first responders, DOD, State Dept, Foreign Service/Intelligence or any other related dept, males and females of deceased veterans, first responders, DOD, State Dept, Foreign Service/Intelligence or any other related dept who are homeowners of record in the community.
Change Article III - CLUB OBJECTIVES to read:
Section 3.
The Club will be a non-profit organization. No dues will be collected. Donations in cash will be accepted and logged in by the Treasurer. Cash will be held in a cash box at the Treasurer's home/office. 50/50 tickets sold at events may be utilized to raise funds.
Change ARTICLE IV - STRUCTURE to read:
Section 2.
The officers shall serve a term of two (2) years commencing March 31, 2022.
Change ARTICLE V - OFFICERS AND DUTIES to read:
Section 5.
The Treasurer shall receive and disburse all monies of The Club and keep regular records of accounts. He/she shall present a statement of account at every general membership meeting. All monies shall be disbursed by cash or bank check and approved by at least three (3) officers, over $50.

An Executive Committee will be formed with no less than 3 members, or any higher odd number of members. Members may be comprised of club officers and/or Board of Advisor members.
